Liefmans Glühkriek – When Mulled Wine Meets Belgian Kriek

If mulled wine and Kriek ever discovered they were made for each other, this is probably what they’d create. Liefmans Glühkriek isn’t your typical summer beer—it’s the perfect companion for cold winter evenings. Fruity, spiced, and wonderfully warming, it’s delicious served straight from the fridge or traditionally heated to around 70°C (158°F).

Brewed on the foundation of the famous Liefmans Kriek and enhanced with a carefully selected blend of 12 natural spices, this Belgian fruit beer combines rich sour cherry flavours with warming notes of cinnamon, cloves, and other festive spices. A truly unique seasonal beer that has become a winter favourite among beer lovers.

Tasting Notes

The aroma is bursting with ripe cherries, complemented by delicate winter spices. On the palate, juicy sour cherries are balanced by gentle sweetness and refreshing acidity, while the warming spice blend adds depth and festive character. Served warm, Glühkriek tastes like liquid cherry pie with cinnamon. Served chilled, it’s fruitier and surprisingly refreshing.

Perfect Pairings

  • Christmas cookies & gingerbread
  • Baked apples
  • Vanilla ice cream (especially when the beer is served warm)
  • Game dishes
  • Cheese boards
  • Cozy winter evenings by the fire
