Dark, Powerful and Seriously Decadent
Northern Decadence by Põhjala is a massive Barrel Aged Imperial Stout from the Estonian brewery’s Cellar Series. This powerful stout is aged in Swedish single malt whisky barrels, combining intense roasted flavours with chocolate, smoke and the warming character of whisky.
The aroma immediately reveals what’s in store: smoky whisky and milk chocolate take centre stage, followed by subtle notes of cinnamon, vanilla and white pepper.
On the palate, Northern Decadence starts rich and sweet with a pronounced chocolate character. This is followed by mineral, slightly salty and peaty whisky notes. The long, warming finish makes this a beer to savour slowly – definitely not your everyday stout.
